Leaders of different political parties and representatives of Arab countries have expressed their solidarity with the cause of Palestine.
Addressing the ‘Palestine Solidarity Day’ programme at Ravindra Bharathi, organised by India Arab Friendship Foundation, here on Saturday, the leaders expressed their resolve to support the Palestinians in achieving an independent and secure State. In his presidential address, Telangana Home Minister Nayani Narasimha Reddy said that the atrocities and injustices with the people of Palestine were highly condemnable. He said that people of Hyderabad and Telangana were emotionally attached with the Palestine and have been supporting the cause since Asaf Jahi period.
Deputy Chief Minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali said that the USA has been trying to divide the Arab world to facilitate Israel continue its aggression against Palestine. He suggested that Arab countries arm themselves with modern weaponry to fight the aggressive tactics of Israel and US. He said Muslims should also focus on education and technology so as to regain their hold in the Arab world. He blamed the US for the global terrorism. He said Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao supports the Palestine cause and compares it with the Telangana statehood movement.
Leader of Opposition Mohammed Ali Shabbir said that the Palestine was close to the hearts of all Muslims across the world due to Masjid-e-Aqsa. He said India has been supporting the Palestine cause since beginning. He said from Pandit Nehru to Dr. Manmohan Singh, all Congress Prime Ministers supported the Palestine cause. However, he expressed regret over BJP-led NDA Government’s decision to change its foreign policy by strengthening diplomatic ties with the Israel. He said Al-Qaeda was a creation of USA and it was responsible for the rising terrorism in the world. Further, he said ISIS activists were not Muslims as Islam does not allow any kind of violence or terrorism.
Kishangunj MP Moulana Asrar-ul-Haque gave a detailed account of the Palestine crisis. He also moved seven resolutions to support the cause of Palestine.
Former Union Minister K. Rahman Khan, MP Palwai Goverdhan Reddy and IAFF President Jabir Patel also spoke.
The event was also attended by Palestine Ambassador Adnan A Abualhayjaa, Sudan Ambassador Dr. Hassan E. El Talib, Yemen Ambassador Jamal Abdullah Al-Haj, League of Arab States’ Head of Mission Dr. Mazin Abdul Abbas Nayif Masoudi, Saudi Arabia’s Secnd Secretary Khalid Makki, Consul Generals Hassan Nourian (Iran) and Arda Ulutas (Turkey) and other diplomats.
Two minutes silence was also observed as a mark of respect for those killed in Paris attack and the victims of Chennai’s floods. (INN)
