Two policemen killed by unknown assailants in Saudi Arabia

Riyadh: Two Saudi policemen were shot dead in Saudi Arabia’s oil-producing Eastern Province by unknown assailants, Al Arabiya reported on Sunday.

As per reports, the security officers were on patrol in Dammam’s al-Khudariya district when they came under fire.

The eastern city of Dammam is an area heavily populated by Shiites – who form a minority in the mostly conservative Sunni country.

The gunmen fled the spot after killing Chief Sergeant Musa Ali Mohammad Al Qobi and soldier Nawaf Mahmas Al Otaibi, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

“My brother is married and he leaves behind four children. We last saw him on Eid Al Adha on Monday. His destiny was to become a martyr on Saturday evening, said Al Qobi’s brother.

The bodies of the police personnel were shifted to Dammam Central Hospital and an investigation has been launched into the incident, said  the official news agency.
