The State Minorities Commission on Monday adjourned the hearing in the case pertaining to suicide by Mohammed Zaheeruddin, a driver of Uber, to January 11.

Reacting to the notices served by the Minorities Commission, the Uber management had appeared before the Commission on Monday and sought time to file its counter. Based on its plea, the Commission Chairman Abid Rasool Khan posted the next hearing in the case to January 11 while directing the Uber management to file their counter.

It may be mentioned that Uber driver Zaheeruddin had committed suicide at his residence in Golnaka in Amberpet police station limits on November 17. Complaining of inaction by the authorities, Telangana State Cabs and Bus Operators Association president Syed Nizamuddin had approached the State Minorities Commission seeking its intervention. In response, the Commission had served Show Cause Notices to Uber management, Transport Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner of Police (East Zone) of Hyderabad City Police. (INN)
