Uber launches first engineering centre in India

New Delhi : Taxi aggregator Uber announced the launch of its first engineering centre in India in Bengaluru, its first ever in Asia.

Uber India’s engineering team introduced the ‘India growth product engineering team’, as the latest addition to the company’s burgeoning engineering units around the world, including one in San Francisco, Amsterdam, Bulgaria, Denmark and Lithuania.

It will be responsible for all product projects to boost Uber’s operations.

The launch of the centre comes at a time when the company is increasing its focus on India. Uber recently joined Startup India initiative with the launch of a mentorship program, whereby entrepreneurs will be trained under the company’s global leadership team.

With the opening of the new centre, Uber, which is already present in 26 cities in India, looks to expand its services in its biggest market outside China and US. (ANI)
