UK police shoot woman arrested four in counter-terrorism operation

London: A 20-year-old woman has been shot by British police during an armed raid on a house in Willesden in north-west London on Thursday.

Armed counter-terrorism officers have also arrested four people on suspicion of the commission, preparation and instigation of terrorist acts.

Metropolitan police said in a statement that the operation in south-east England was not linked with the arrest of a 27-year-old man with knives near the Houses of Parliament earlier in the day.

The statement added. “During the operation, a female, who is one of the subjects of the investigation, was shot by police. The woman, aged in her twenties, has been taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service. She remains in hospital in a serious but stable condition. Due to her condition, she has not been arrested at this time and remains under police guard at hospital.”

The woman who was shot is in serious but stable condition, police said. She has not been arrested yet and is under police guard at the hospital, according to the statement.

Police did not release the names of the five people and the woman who was shot is serious but in stable condition.
