Undergraduate girl commits suicide in coaching centre

Ghaziabad: An 18-year-old girl today allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself from a ceiling fan in a room of a coaching centre, police said.

The girl, a first-year B.Com student, had gone to the coaching centre as usual at around 6 am, said SHO, Sihani Gate police station Avneesh Gautam.

The coaching centre in Noor Nagar is run by tutor Arjun, he added.

When the girl did not return home till 8.30 am, her parents went to the coaching centre. As they peeped inside a room, they were shocked to find the girl’s body hanging. The room was locked from inside, the SHO added.

On being informed, the police reached the spot, broke open the door and brought the body down.

The tutor was not present when the police reached the coaching centre. The police is trying to trace him as well as his whereabouts in the morning from mobile tower locations.

An FIR has been registered under section 306, IPC by the girl’s family members against the tutor.
