Vempalli Project modernization by June: Harish


Hyderabad: All irrigation projects in Nizamabad district will be completed on a war-footing, Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao has said.
Laying foundation for modernization of Lakshmi Canal Lift irrigation at Vempalli in the district, the minister said the works will be completed by June this year. The government has taken up the modernization works at a cost of Rs 1.70 crore, the minister said. He also said nine-hour uninterrupted power will be supplied to farmers from next June, he stated.
The minister criticized that the Congress leaders when in power did not work, but now resorting to Padayatras in vain. The State government was giving priority to irrigation sector, he said, adding that works under 21 and 22 packages of Pranahitha-Chevella project are on fast pace. Harish Rao also said they will irrigate 70,000 acres in Balkonda constituency under package 20 of SRSP backwaters.
