Vice President speaks for poor Muslim community

Hyderabad: Vice President M. Hamid Ansari on Wednesday emphasized on various issues and responsibilities of the minority community that needs to be taken care of stating that the Government and the citizens are equally responsible and should equally work for the welfare of the society.

He was in the event to release a book ‘the quest for Muslim reservation’ written by Mr Shabbir Ali, Leader Leader of Opposition in the TS Legislative Council in New Delhi.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Ansari said the Government is not taking any initiatives regarding reservations though the minorities came forward with their concern about the low reservations.

Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas initiative started by the Centre, he said until the backward class is given the priority there is no way they community can develop. “Backwardness among Muslims is a reality and it should be dealt with by both the states and the Centre with a human face”.

Talking about late CM Y.S Rajasekhar Reddy’s implementation of the same, the leader spoke about the years it took to bring the change and include Muslims in the reservation category, sources reported.
