A chappal was hurled at Kanhaiya Kumar, the Jawaharlal Nehru University Students Union (JNUSU) president, who is in the city on Thursday. The incident occurred when Kanhaiya had just started his speech on ‘constitutional rights’ at the Sundarayya Vignana Kendram.
One of the supporters of right wing outfit Goraksha Dal present among the audience hurled a chappal at him.
Though he missed his target, Kanhaiya’s supporters took on the attacker and roughed him up even as the former tried to dissuade the men from assaulting his attacker.
The attacker, identified as one Pawan Kumar, questioned why a person like Kanhaiya, who supports terrorists like Afzal Guru, was being allowed to share the stage.
Continuing with his speech, Kanhaiya said that such incidents do not matter to him.
