Video: Denied homesick leave, students vandalise Narayana Junior college in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: Irked at being denied homesick leave, students of Intermediate second year of Narayana Junior College at Nizampet in Hyderabad allegedly vandalised the college on Tuesday night.

According to reports, the 2nd year MPC students who reside in the college hostel alleged that they were not given a single homesick leave since the academic year started and had demanded the holidays but the college authorities denied permission.

On Wednesday, at around 2 am, irked at being denied holidays, beside locking the staff in a room, the students damaged furniture, geysers, lights and overhead tanks, pelted stones and broke windows.

Footage from Tuesday night showed negotiation of police officers with the irked students via a megaphone, as they continued to yell and shout from inside the building.

Speaking to Times News Minute, Inspector Kushalkar from the KBHP Colony police station said, “Holidays have been declared, and normalcy has returned. As of now, the college administration is yet to file a complaint. Therefore, there has been no case registered,” he said.
