Wanted Maoist from Jharkhand arrested in AP

Hyderabad: A Maoist leader allegedly involved in several offences in Jharkhand and carrying a cash prize of Rs five lakh on his head was arrested by police in Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh on Monday.

Govind Yadav, who worked as sub-zonal commander in Manika area of Jharkhand between 2012-2014, was arrested under suspicious circumstances during vehicle checking at Estate Road in Madanapalli town of Chittoor, a senior police officer of Andhra Pradesh told PTI.

“Yadav also worked in Jharkhand Mukti Morcha earlier and he was carrying Rs five lakh cash prize on his head. He was hiding in Chittoor district for the past few months and was nabbed by a police team following information provided by Jharkhand Police to their AP counterparts,” the officer said.

In October 2014, he quit the party and after knowing about the pending warrant against him in Manika police station, he escaped from his village and went to Chennai, where he stayed for five months. On September 8 this year, he had come to Madanapalli, he said.
