Waqf Board to challenge sale of Lanco Hills flats in SC

An appeal will soon be filed in Supreme Court against the advertisement published by Lanco Hills for the sale of its flats. Minority Welfare Department and Waqf Board have begun consultation with legal experts in this connection. Secretary of the Dept. of Minorities Welfare, Mr. Syed Omer Jaleel conducted a meeting of eminent lawyers and Waqf Board officials on Monday. He told that that Supreme Court in its interim orders had bound Lanco Hills to mention in the sale deeds of this property that the case of its ownership is pending with Supreme Court and the sale proceeds would be subject to the judgment of the Supreme Court but Lanco Hills did not mention this case in their advertisement.

Mr. Syed Omer Jaleel told that this property is a Waqf land. Waqf Board filed a case in Supreme Court to get back this property. It has engaged eminent lawyers. Waqf Board has clear documents to claim the ownership of this waqf property. The claim of Lanco Hills that they have purchased this property from the Govt. is baseless. He further told that Waqf Board would pursue the case in Supreme Court. If need be more senior lawyers would be engaged.

Lanco Hills has been developed in Manikonda Jagir belonging to Dargah Hazrat Husain Shah Wali. During both previous TDP and YSR led Congress governments, these land had been allotted to various companies.
