New Delhi: Union culture and tourism minister Mahesh Sharma suspended one of his security personnel and apologised after one of his bodyguards was caught on camera thrashing housing society guards in Ghaziabad on Friday.
The matter came to light after news agency ANI shared a video of the incident on social media. Sharma told ANI that he had apologised to the guards as soon as he got to know of the incident.
“I have also suspended my security guard and have asked the police to inquire into the incident. Have also apologised to RWA president. If two security guards are fighting what more can a minister do?” he said.
One of the housing guards said, “It took hardly two minutes for us to open the gate and yet minister ji’s security thrashed and abused us.”
The minister’s bodyguard’s behaviour has enraged officials of the housing society who plan to approach the police.
