Won’t use even a single drop of AP water: Harish

Birkur: Telangana State will only confine to use its allocated waters and not use a single drop of waters of Andhra Pradesh, Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao has said.

Inaugurating lakes revival works under the flagship program of Mission Kakatiya at Birkur village in Nizamabad district along with Agriculture Minister Pochaam Srinivas Reddy, Harish took a jibe at Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu for continuing to conspire against Telangana projects. Telangana is making use of waters allotted by Bachawat Tribunal only and not a single more drop will be used by us he claimed. He also accused his AP counterpart Devineni Umamaheshwar Rao for not coming to sit across the table to sort out the issue of water usage and allocations made among the two Telugu states.

“Time and again I rang him up and he was trying to escape the debate as he is afraid of exposure of the facts that will finally expose their misdeeds of looting Telangana waters. When Telangana projects are illegal then how the AP Government constructed projects without obtaining permissions”, he asked. The minister also criticized Chandrababu Naidu and YSRCP Chief Jaganmohan Reddy for indulging in false politics and trying to misguide the people. “They must refrain from coming in the way of our projects to be completed in two years to irrigate one crore acres. Telangana leaders should decide whether he will support Chandrababu for coming in the way of our projects” he said.

Agriculture Minister Pocharam Srinivas Reddy said the previous government denied funds for lakes restoration despite persistent efforts. Now the TRS Government gave Rs 65 crore to Bhanswada constituency along and the credit goes to Chief Minister, he added. (NSS)
