World T20: Pakistan security team arrives in India

Amritsar: A two-member delegation from Islamabad arrived in India crossing the Wagah Border on Monday to review security arrangements for the Pakistan cricket team ahead of the T20 World Cup 2016 which commences on March 8.

The security team led by Usman Anwar, director in the Federal Investigation Agency, have one representative each from the PCB and Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi.

The team will meet Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh and the police chief of Dharamsala, which is the venue for the match between India and Pakistan on March 19th.

The decision on Pakistan’s participation in the World T20, hinges on the security team’s clearance report.

Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had directed Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan to dispatch a team to India to assess the measures adopted for the security of Pakistan’s cricketers.

Pakistan play their matches in World T20 from March 15 onwards although the ICC event starts from Tuesday with qualifying matches. (ANI)
