Yamaha motor opens motor cycle assembly plant in Lagos, Nigeria

New Delhi : Yamaha Motor Co. Ltd. announced establishment of its motorcycle assembly plant and modern showroom at the Amuwo Odofin Industrial Scheme in Lagos, Nigeria.

The plant opening is the result of the successful testing and full activation of the Yamaha Motor’s assembly line which rolled out Yamaha motorcycle models designed for commercial use and commutes.

The Governor of Lagos State, Akinwumi Ambode was invited to commission the assembly plant and showroom, accompanied by President, CEO and Representative Director of Yamaha Motor Hiroyuki Yanagi, the Chairman of the management board, CFAO Group, Paris, France, Richard Bielle.

CFAO Yamaha Motor Nigeria’s Managing Director Olivier Levigne said the plant has the capacity for uninterrupted daily production with the target of 70,000 units by 2018, while the showroom exhibits other Yamaha Motor products such as outboard engines, personal watercraft, all-terrain vehicles, generators and Yamalube lubricants, all of which are distributed in Nigeria exclusively by CFAO Yamaha Motor Nigeria.

Fujii Hisashi, Deputy Managing Director and also Marketing Director of the company, said: “In addition to the plant and showroom, Yamaha Motor will launch two initiatives: the Yamaha Technical Academy, which will provide technical training and support services, and the Yamaha Riding Academy, which will contribute to motorcycle riding safety in the country.”

The joint venture was founded on the manufacturing and marketing expertise of Yamaha Motor and CFAO’s business experience and vast distribution network in Nigeria spanning over 113 years. (ANI)
