Tirupati: A young couple committed suicide in a guest house in this temple town on Tuesday – after taking a selfie and video, police said.
The couple hailing from Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu took the selfie and a video before hanging from a ceiling fan in their room in Rambagicha guest house run by Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD).
The bodies were found hanging by the guest house employees as they broke open the door after not getting any response.
The couple identified as Sampath Kumar and Satyavani had checked in the guest house on Monday and the staff knocked the door as they had not come out till late in the afternoon.
Police found that they took selfie and video before committing suicide. “We are dying” were the words uttered by them in the video.
Preliminary inquiries revealed that Sampath fell in love with Satyavani after separation from his wife. Their alliance, however, was disapproved by their families.
