17 YO electrocuted while playing on her mobile phone

Bangkok: In an unfortunate incident, a 17-year-old girl was electrocuted while playing on a mobile phone that was plugged for charging.

The incident occurred in Thailand where the teenager Nong Ying from the northeast region plugged her mobile phone to a damaged cable, Khaleej Times reports.

Her bed had a metal frame on which she was lying when the incident happened.

According to reports, she suffered an electric shock after her frayed extension cable, which was wrapped with duct tape, came in contact with one of the legs of the metal bed.

She was found lying unconscious on floor by her mother Boonpeng Tuponchai, 47.

The mother also felt a minor electrical shock when she came closer to her daughter thinking she was sleeping on the floor.

Investigating officer, Police Captain Khanti Peansoongnern, said, “I think the old power strip provided an electrical leakage which ran to the bed, either through the soil on the ground, or directly touching the metal.”
