3 women arrested in separate child lifting cases

New Delhi: The police have arrested three women in two separate cases in the national Capital for allegedly kidnapping children.

In the first incident, a 24-year-old woman was arrested on Saturday for allegedly kidnapping a toddler from east Delhi’s Pandav Nagar area. In another incident reported from Delhi’s south-east, two women were arrested on Friday on suspicion of being child lifter, from Sanjay Camp area.

In first incident, the woman, who is married and a resident of Laxmi Nagar, (east Delhi) was caught by the locals on Saturday in Pandav Nagar area.

According to a senior police officer, around 4.30 on Saturday when she was trying to kidnap the boy she was caught by the local residents of the area and she was handed over to police.

“A case under section 363 (punishment for kidnapping) has been registered and further investigation is on,” the police officer said.

In another incident, two women were arrested on the suspicion of being child lifter in south-east Delhi’s Sanjay Camp area on Friday. According to a senior police officer, a police control room (PCR) call was received on Friday in which the caller said the two women tried to kidnap a child from the area of Sanjay Camp Jhuggi.

Acting on the call, an Emergency Response Vehicle (ERV) was dispatched for the spot and the duo was arrested from the spot,” said the senior police officer.

“During investigation, the women were found to be residents of NTPC Badarpur shanties. The duo have been booked under relevant sections of the IPC,” said the senior police officer.
