Hyderabad: Truth behind Hyderabadi women gone ‘missing’ within 24 hours

Hyderabad: Nearly 82 people went missing in Telangana within just 24 hours on Saturday of which 35 are women of middle age read a twitter post sending chills and panic across Hyderabad.

So is there any truth to the post or was it just another trick to scare city people. The truth behind women ‘going missing’ in Hyderabad?

“Request all the female folk to be careful and highly watchful. Try to avoid travelling alone, especially in the nights and at deserted area,” read an Instagram story on Wednesday that has gone viral as soon as it got shared, TT reports.

“Nearly 82 people went missing in Telangana within just 24 hours on Saturday. 35 out of the missing are women of middle age,” read another post on Twitter fueling the rumors that too got shared multiple times.

Ever since then, several such ‘cautionary’ messages have been circulating on social media since Tuesday morning after a report in local media claimed an increase in missing cases in Hyderabad.

According to the report, around 545 people including children and women have gone missing in just nine days in June owing to ‘police inaction’.

However, these accusations have now been challenged by the Telangana Police, who have claimed they have traced 85 percent of missing people in 2018.

The Police added low marks, love failure, property dispute and kidnapping as the most evident causes behind the disappearances.

Well, dear Hyderabadis, the rumors are fake as there is no truth to these speculations.

Hyderabad Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar addressing these fake rumors circulating on social media has called these rumors as ‘untrue’ and ‘fake’.

Rachakonda Police Commissioner Mahesh M. Bhagwat too has urged netizens to ‘not like or share frivolous posts over missing cases as such posts are creating unnecessary panic’.

“I request all women not to believe such rumours and press reports,” tweeted V C Sajjanar, Cyberabad Commissioner of Police.

Delhi based Twitter user Anshul Saxena who has shared the false report immediately deleted his Tweet after the Telangana Police called it’s report as ‘Fake news’.
