AP: World’s oldest woman who gave birth to twins lands in ICU

Guntur: A 74-year-old who became the oldest woman to give birth to twins landed Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital.

According to the report published in The Telegraph, her husband is also admitted to ICU of the hospital.

In Vitro Fertilisation Process

The couple is identified as Erramatti Mangayamma (74) and Raja Rao (78). Mangayamma gave birth to twin girls on 5th September. She had conceived through In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF) process.

Husband suffers heart attack

A day after the delivery, her husband suffered with heart attack. He was admitted to ICU of the hospital whereas, the woman remained in ICU since delivery.

It is also reported that the couple opted for IVF after the woman failed to conceive naturally.

Couple remained childless for 57 years

Mangayamma who hails from the Nelapartipadu village in East Godavari district had gotten married to Raja Rao, a farmer, in 1962. She had remained childless for 57 years.

It may be mentioned that the woman became pregnant in the month of January. The woman delivered girls by Caesarean section.

Doctors at the hospital declined to provide health details of the couple.

Meanwhile, the newborn girls are healthy. The couple’s relatives are taking care of them.
