Telangana: On Friday, the third Additional JFCM Court at Kothagudam has convicted the accused- A1 SK . Umar (Kothagudem District secretary of CPI-ML-New Democracy Party) including 23 others and sentenced all the 24 persons with 1 year imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs.14,400.
This case has been registered with Annapareddypally Police station under IPC. Sec 3 of PDPP Act pertaining to attack on Forest officers in Marrigudem Beat of Ramavaram Range in Kothagudem Division on March 2015.
The case facts are as follows:
While the forest officers led by ACF Probationer Narasimha Reddy were doing Advance operations in a 500 ha retrieved forest land for planting in Marrigudem Reserve Forest, a mob had attacked the forest officials with sticks, stones & chilly powder, which resulted in serious injuries to about 10 forest officials.
On the complaint of FRO Ramavaram, an FIR was registered in Chandrugonda Police station and a charge sheet was filed by police in kothagudem court.
Public prosecutor Phani Kumar had presented the case arguments before the Hon’ble judge and was successful in getting conviction.
DFO Ram Babu, IFS expressed his happiness over the judgement and hoped that this will act as a deterrent against any attacks on forest officials on duty.
He warned that any encroachments in Forests will be strictly dealt with and the offenders will be brought to book.
