Banner which went viral on social media doesn’t belong to us: clarifies NCPUL

Srinagar: National Council for Promotion of Urdu Language (NCPUL) clarified that the banner related to the ongoing 23rd All India Urdu Book Fair, which went viral on social media, doesn’t belong to it. NCPUL Director Dr Aqueel Ahmed told that no such banner was put up by the Council. The banners made by the council were put up only in Kashmir University and Srinagar.

An Urdu newspaper with reference to UNI reported that a banner went viral on social media in which the Urdu alphabet ‘ba’ is missing from the sentence ‘Urdu kitab Mela’, which made the sentence appear as ‘Urdu kutta Mela’. It has been claimed that the banner was put up by NCPUL.

Director Dr Aqueel Ahmed said 81 centres are run by the Council, any of the centres might have made the banner on its own and might have made the mistake while copying the matter.
