Bihar: Mob lynches another teenager to death over suspicion

Gaya: In yet another incident, a 17-year-old teenager was lynched by an angry mob on suspicions of theft in Kalyanpur area on Monday.

According to reports, the victim, identified as Arjun Manjhi, was first paraded through the streets before being brutally beaten up and later succumbed to his injuries even before the police reached the spot, HT reports.

As per local residents, four thieves including the victim have entered the house of Jitendra Kumar, a LIC agent in Delha on Sunday night.

When one of the family members woke up in the middle of the night and raised an alarm, the thieves were caught as soon as his neighbours assembled in the house.

Three thieves managed to escape leaving the victim alone at the mercy of the mob.

However, the victim’s mother Putur Devi said her son was no thief and used to work in Bhutan and had returned to Gaya recently.

She urged the SSP to look into the matter since Manjhi’s friends had come to take him out on Sunday who is now on the run after the incident.

SSP Rajeev Mishra said, “Everything would be clear once we get the statements of his friends with whom he had gone out on Sunday night.”
