BJP MP targets AMU once again; draws ire from Alumni

BJP MP Satish Gautam wrote a letter to the university administration commenting upon a controversial post by a university student on social media. He held the university teachers responsible for such mentality.

Aligarh: Aligarh alumni have reacted strongly over MP Satish Gautam using indecent language against Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) vice Chancellor and professors.

Secretary Aligarh Muslim University Teachers Association Prof Najmul Islam asked the MP to be broadminded and stop seeing through prejudiced eye. He urged the MP to avoid unnecessary statements and focus on developmental works in his constituency.

As reported by an Urdu newspaper, the BJP MP Satish Gautam wrote a letter to the university administration commenting upon a controversial post by a university student on social media. He held the university teachers responsible for such mentality.

Former member of Muslim University Court and district president of Aam Aadmi Party Parvez Ali Khan said such a remark by the MP is uncalled for. He alleged that instead of focusing on the public welfare work in his constituency, the MP has nothing to do but to target AMU.

This is not the first time the BJP MP has targeted AMU. He had drawn flak earlier also for his controversial remark after winning Lok Sabha elections from Aligarh for the second consecutive time. Satish Kumar Gautam had said that his first priority is to “send the portrait of Muhammad Ali Jinnah at Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) to Pakistan”.
