BJP repeats demand for Health Emergency in State

Hyderabad: Stating that all the government hospitals in the capital city were over crowded with patients of Dengue and viral fevers, the State BJP president K Laxman today demanded that the State government immediately declare Health Emergency, provide free medical treatment to them and made available all necessary medicines in the hospitals.

Speaking after distributing fruits to the patients in the Fever Hospital at Nallakunta here as part of Seva Saptaha program being organized on the occasion of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday, Dr Laxman said his party will be launching an agitation demanding that the State government build four general hospitals in the city to cater to the needs of the patients. Instead of planning to build a new secretariat and a new Assembly building in the city, Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar should build four 1,000-bed hospitals in the city as promised four years ago.

“Our party will not rest until this promise by the Chief Minister, made four years ago, is fulfilled. Not even a single brick has been laid for any of these promised hospitals,” Laxman said. The hospitals were promised in Uppal-LB Nagar, Malkajgiri-Cantonment, Qutbullapur-Kukatpally and Serilingampally-Rajendranagar, he said. All the Government hospitals are full with patients suffering from fever.

Had the Government built these promised  hospitals, the overcrowding could have been avoided and patients could have been served better. The government must also fill the more than 3,000 vacancies of doctors and other paramedical staff, he added.
