Bonalu fete started, Dargah gets spruced up

Hyderabad: Reflecting the communal harmony prevalent amongst the Hindus and Muslims in the city, a dargah opposite to the Akkanna-Madanna Mahankali Mandir (AMM) continues to get special treatment from the temple committee every year.

The Telangana State BC Commission Chairman Ramulu along with the member of Vakulabharanam Jrishna Mohan Rao inaugurated the 70 years Bonalu photo exhibition on Thursday at Akkanna Madanna Prayer Hall in Shalibanda.

At 6 PM Chairman Ramulu, Member V. Krishna Mohan Rao performed a special puja (worship) to Akkanna Madanna Mahankali Matha and later offered Chadar in Dargah before Akkanna Madanna Prayer Hall.

The guests also inaugurated the 70 years Bonalu Photo Exhibition at Prayer Hall and seen various photos collected and displayed in the photo exhibition. Later prizes were given to the students who won various competitions held during the festival.

The Dargah gets spruced up along with the temple every year by the organisers. Besides the painting of the shrine, the committee also offers a Chader on the occasion.

“The Bonalu festival in AMM temple would be incomplete without an offering of a Chader at Dargah-e-Shareef by the committee. The Dargah is painted every year and also lightened-up along with temple during Bonalu”, said SP Kranti Kumar, Organizing Secretary AMMM.

Kranthi Kumar, who does not know the name of the Dargah or its history, said that during the 10-day Bonalu festival, even the Dargah is spruced up. “Generally, a shopkeeper and an old man comes and cleans up the place who patronize it during normal days”, he added.

Trust Board Chairman Ayodhya Ramulu, Dywagya Sharma, Temple Patron G.Niranjan, President A.Satish, Representatives G.Rajaratnam, K.Dattatreya, Ramdev Agarwal, D.R.Prabhakar, S.P.Kranthi Kumar, M.Krishna, A.Gopal, Chetan Suri and others were present on this occasion.
