Bribe complaint field against BJP leader Yeddyurappa and 3 others

Bangalore: A bribe complaint has been filed against Karnataka BJP president Yeddyurappa and three others by a Janata Dal worker who has alleged the leader has offered money to get his father to defect.

Complainant Sharanagouda Kandakur, son of Gurmitkal MLA Naganagouda Kandakur has sought action against the four under the Prevention of Corruption Act, the Telegraph reports.

Apart from Yeddyurappa, Sharanagouda also named Devadurga BJP legislator Shivanagouda Nayak, Hassan MLA Preetham Gowda and current advisor and former journalist M.B. Maramkal, accusing them of trying to offer a bribe of Rs 25 crore to his MLA father to persuade him to switch to the BJP.

The Janata dad worker claims to have recorded the conversation during his purported meeting with Yeddyurappa and the others in the early hours of Friday.

The audio clips had been handed over to chief minister H.D. Kumaraswamy of the JDS, who made them public at a media conference.

“I have handed over a CD containing the audio clips to the police,” Sharanagouda told reporters in Raichur on Thursday.

Sharanagouda also alleged that the accused BJP leaders threatened to finish his political career after he turned down the offer.

During the House session this Monday, Kumar had advised CM Kumaraswamy to order a probe by a special investigation team.

Karnataka BJP chief Yeddyurappa has, however, denied all charges.
