CAA-NRC: #Kambal_Chor_UP_Police trends on Twitter

LUCKNOW: Uttar Pradesh police were trolled on social media for the action of confiscation of protesters’ blankets at the Clock Tower in Lucknow.

Along with the video of the protesters, photographs of police personnel confiscating the blankets, and food items from women protesters have also gone viral on the microblogging site.

This hostility of UP police, who has already been under severe criticism over its actions in the state over the continuing anti-CAA protests does not go down well with the netizens.

Soon hashtag #कम्बल_र_यूपी_पुलिस (Kambal_Chor_UP_Police) had trended at number 5 with over 21K tweets, on which Twitter users have also given their reactions.

Inspired by a Shaheen Bagh-styled protest, around 500 women began the sit-in demonstration against the contentious Citizenship (Amendment) Act and the National Register of Citizens (NRC) with the crowds swelling each passing day and the protest became “indefinite.”
