CAA: We are with Muslims, says Christian at Shaheen Bagh

New Delhi: The Shaheen Bagh protest, which started since 15 December 2019, is an ongoing 24/7 sit-in peaceful protest, led by untiring fervent women against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) which passed both houses of Parliament on 11 December 2019.

The protestors at Shaheen Bagh, mainly Muslim women have blocked a major highway in New Delhi using non-violent resistance for 42 days now as of 25 January 2020. It has now become the longest ongoing continuous protest against CAA-NRC-NPR

The leaderless protest now is not only against CAA and police brutality, but also against the National Register of Citizens (NRC) and the National Population Register (NPR), and the BJP government in general.

Though the protest is being led majorly by Muslim women, they are supported by Sikhs, Hindus and Christians as well displaying ‘Unity in Diversity’. One such Catholic arrived at Shaheen Bagh and affirmed his support for resolute women there.

He said, “Your Hindu brother is here, Sikhs are here and I (Christian) am also right here. The Government will have to listen us”.
