Court directs teen to distribute 5 Qurans for communal FB post

RANCHI: A local court in Ranchi granted bail to a college student arrested on charges of sharing a post on Facebook inciting communal hatred.

Judicial Magistrate Manish Kumar directed 19-year-old Richa Bharti on the condition that she will distribute five copies of the Quran at different organisations while directing her to gift one copy of the religious text to Sadar Anjuman Islamia Committee.

Richa unhappy with court verdict

Richa has expressed her displeasure over the court’s verdict.

In an interview to Zee Bihar Jharkhand, Richa told that she would stand her ground and wish not to comply with the court order.

Richa, who is a first year student at a local college, was arrested on Saturday night and put behind bars after a case was registered against her for allegedly sharing objectionable content against Islam on social media.

The action had drawn sharp criticism from the locals and also members of the right wing Hindu organizations staged a dharna, demanding her release.
