I am an ordinary Kashmiri. In these times, getting merely arrested is a privilege. A 65 year old man in Srinagar died because he choked on pepper gas being used by the police. A 17 yr old boy was the first documented victim of the current crisis. What is an arrest compared to it?
New Delhi: Rebutting Army’s claim that she is spreading fake news against Indian Army and the government, Shehla Rashid said this is being done to deviate from real issue.
Supreme Court lawyer Alakh Alok Srivastava on Monday filed a criminal complaint against student leader Shehla Rashid, seeking her arrest for allegedly spreading fake news against Indian Army and the government.
The complaint copy stated that Rashid is deliberately and intentionally spreading fake news with the intention to incite violence in Jammu and Kashmir and in other parts of the country. It further stated that her tweets are being shared by many Twitter users on international platforms, causing irreparable injury to the reputation of India.
The complainant alleged that she has intended to excite disaffection towards the government, which is prima facie an offence of sedition under Section 124-A of IPC.
Here is what she tweeted:
Shehla came to the limelight when JNU student’s union president Kanhaiya Kumar was accused of raising anti-national slogans. Kanhaiya Kumar was the president while Shehla Rashid was vice president at that time.
