‘Dazzling jewel in Hyderabad’s crown’ to be unveiled on Sept 19

Hyderabad: The much-awaited cable bridge which will add to the beauty of city of pearls will be kicked off by Minister K T Rama Rao on September 19. The government has paid special attention on the construction of this cable bride constructed across Durgam Cheruvu in Madhapur. The bridge which is widely acclaimed as another iconic structure of Hyderabad like the Charminar and Golconda Fort will be will soon be thrown open for public.

Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation officials have begun the preparations for the inauguration ceremony. Earlier chief minister KCR had planned to unveil the bridge but now KTR is likely to inaugurate it.

The bridge, after it is thrown open for public, is believed to solve traffic issues to a large extent. It would be a boon especially for IT professionals. Besides, it will be a latest addition to the already existing tourist spots of Hyderabad city.

The cable bridge has been constructed with a cost of Rs 184 crore. It took two years to complete the bridge. L&T was given the contract for its construction.

The bridge is 760 meter long and the distance between its two pillars is 244 meter wide. Constructed using German technology, the bridge was completed in 22 months by engineers of eight countries. It has been built at 20 meter above the Durgam Cheruvu Lake. 26 cables have been used for each pylon.
