Deccan Medical College Alumni in US inaugurate free health clinic

Hyderabad: The Hayat clinic provides essential healthcare to the underserved population on the north side of Chicago.

From its modest beginnings to its new home on 6350 N Maplewood Avenue which was inaugurated in 2016 the clinic is doing its part by providing free primary care services, management of chronic conditions like high blood pressure, diabetes and now ophthalmology services.

Many alumni from from the Deccan College of Medical Sciences have been involved from the inception in the planning, clinical and administrative tasks associated with this community clinic.

On the morning of September 11th the Deccan Alumni Association of North America (DAANA) board of directors were requested by one of their own alumni who serves at Hayat clinic for a donation through DAANA. Since the charitable work at Hayat clinic is consistent with the mission statement of DAANA, within the hour the board approved a motion to do an expedited virtual fundraiser and the entire alumni stepped up with prayers, donations, and well wishes.

Together DAANA was able to collect approximately $30,000 within 24 hours which was donated to Hayat Clinic on September 12th at the annual clinic fundraising event.
