Hyderabad: Dr. TK Sreedevi, IAS, Mission Director, MEPMA-Telangana mentioned that development is possible only through partnerships. The government is working towards the vision of Bangaru Telangana.
Speaking at a Social Leadership Summit with the theme “India @75 Development Agenda for 2022 “at Hyderabad today as part of the 150 years of Mahatma Gandhi she referred about the WOW project and said that women are engaged in a big way in the waste segregation process of the project.
There are 150,000 self-help groups in Telangana and 5000 area federations, she said. These groups are working together for the development of women in the state.
The objective of the Summit was to promote the industry’s participation in India’s development process and develop a cohesive path towards 2022.
In his Keynote Address, Mr. N K Ranganath, Area Managing Director, Grundfos-Indo Region highlighted the need for using water efficiently. He said that civilizations died due to the lack of water and it is the citizens’ responsibility to manage water proficiently. We need a circular economy to manage water, he said.
Mr. Ranganath also stressed on the need for technology to use water efficiently. We need to have Long Term, Medium-term and short term plans to manage water, he said. Short terms measures like water harvesting and water recycling, medium-term measures like restoring all water bodies and long term measure of river interlinking will help to resolve the water scarcity issue in the country.
Delivering her Special Address Ms. Hari Chandana, Zonal Commissioner, West Zone, GHMC said that Hyderabad is known as the city of Lakes. Injection borewells were tried out in the Cyberrabad region. 20 Injection wells were done. She applauded CII for actively participating in the Haritha Haram program. Ms. Chandana also mentioned that the government is working with the CII Green Building Centre to develop a Green Building Code which will be announced soon.
As part of the Summit, a Special Plenary Session focusing on Community Leadership was organized with Dr. Prakash Amte & Dr. Mandakini Amte, Padma Shri and Ramon Magsaysay Awardees and Founders, Lok Biradari Prakalp. Dr. Prakash Amte said that if opportunities are provided to grass root level people, they can do wonders. Students need to learn from practical exposure, they should visit tribal hamlets to gain clarity about their vision. “Work with the People and not for the people – It is the key factor to bring Positive change in the Society”, he said.
