Dowry harassment case: Husband, five others get 7 years imprisonment

Telangana: The local court of Karimnagar District sentenced seven years imprisonment to a husband and his five companions in a dowry harassment case.

According to the details, Uma Devi had got married to Srinivas in April 2017. 22 guntas land, two tola gold and other articles were given to bridegroom on the occasion of his wedding.

One month after the marriage, Srinivas and his parents insisted the bride to get more dowry. Vexed with this, Uma Devi had committed suicide.

Special Sessions Judge of Family Court, Ms Lalitha Shiva Jyoti pronounced this sentence for 7 years imprisonment and imposed a fine of Re. 5 thousand.
