Fire safety measures taken up for Numaish 2020

Hyderabad: With only few days left for the beginning of All India Industrial Exhibition 2020 or Numaish the organizers are busy taking measures to ensure that the 40-day event passes off smoothly.

The organizers were criticized heavily for failing to collect clearance certificates from various departments, particularly the Fire Department when several stalls burned down owing to fire that broke out on January 30 last year.

The Numaish which is popular all over India will be turning 80 next January. Over 20 lakh people visit exhibition every year.

The Numaish Society has constructed two water sumps and also laid out underground wiring. It has also laid three types of firefighting pipelines and set up 85 fire hydrants points.

B. Nagaraj, construction site supervisor said, “To control any possible fire accident the society has constructed two huge water sumps with capacity of 1.5 lakh litre. Officials of the society said that fire extinguishers will be installed at selected places.”

Mock drills will be undertaken before the start of Exhibition with the cooperation of Fire and Police Departments.

Society will depute trained volunteers to operate Fire hydrant valves in case of emergency, they said.
