Former IAS officer Hasanuddin Ahmed passes away

Hyderabad: Former IAS officer, Mr. Hasanuddin Ahmed passed away at around 6 a.m. on Tuesday. He was 95 years old.

It may be mentioned Mr. Ahmed was on bed for the past three years. He is survived by two sons.

His brother-in-law also passed away last night at around 12 midnight. He was 90 years old.

Namaz-e-Janaza of Mr. Hasanuddin and his brother-in-law will be held after Zohar prayer at Almas Masjid. Tadfeen will be done at Masjid-e-Almas graveyard.

It may be mentioned that his wife had passed away five years ago.

It may be noted that Mr. Hasanuddin ran Villa Press where academic books get published. He was also a Joint Secretary of Delhi Wakf Board.

He was close to former President of India, Mr. Fakruddin Ali Ahmed.

Personal and Professional background

He was the son of Nawab Deen Yaar Jung, Former Commissioner of Police in the erstwhile Govt. of Nizam and grandson of Aziz Jung Vila.

His famous report on the Wakf Board had triggered many reforms. During his tenure of office in Central Govt., he initiated many developmental schemes through All India Wakf Council.

His seminal work on Urdu word count was released by Ms. Indira Gandhi.

He was the author of 25 books. He translated Bhagwat Gita into Urdu during the reign of Nizam of Hyderabad.

To commemorate the life and works of his grandfather, Aziz Jung Vila, he founded Vila Academy.

In 2003, he was awarded prestigious Makhdoom Award by AP Urdu Academy. He also served as the Chairman of AP Minorities Commission.  

Educational Background

He did his Ph.D. in Urdu from Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi under the guidance of Prof. Masood Husain Khan, the then VC of Jamia Millia Islamia.
