Paris: French President Emmanuel Macron was slapped by a man during a walkabout session with a crowd in the Drome region in southeastern France on Tuesday, an aide said.
Videos going viral on social media showed Macron approach a barrier to shake the hand of a man who slapped him on the face in the village of Tain-l’Hermitage in the Drome region.
The video shows a man slapping Macron in the face and his bodyguards pushing the man away as the French leader quickly leaves the scene.
French news broadcaster BFM TV said two people have been detained by police.
