Ghaziabad: Two shared fake video on WhatsApp, booked

GHAZIABAD: Police in Ghaziabad detains two men for allegedly sharing a fake video clip on WhatsApp, which was also tweeted and then deleted by the Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan.

The duo allegedly forwarded the same clip on WhatsApp hours after Mr. Khan on Friday tweeted the now-deleted seven-year-old video of violence from Bangladesh and claimed it to be the case of police brutality against Muslims in Uttar Pradesh.

According to The Indian Express reports, upon getting information, the police traced the videos of the two groups, the admin of the WhatsApp group, who are based out of Ghaziabad’s Murad Nagar was asked to file two different FIRs and gathered information about the participants who shared the alleged video.

Neeraj Jadaun, SP Rural, Ghaziabad told the paper that the two have been booked under relevant sections of the IT Act and arrest will be made soon.

The SP refused to share the names of the two men but said one is run by a media person and the other by a lawyer.

In a major embarrassment, Khan posted the video with a caption, “Indian police’s pogrom against Muslims in UP,” Khan had tweeted.

The video showed police action against a group of people in Bangladesh. At one point in the video, a policeman could be seen holding a shield of RAB, proving it to be a scene from Bangladesh.

The RAB is an anti-terrorism unit of the Bangladesh Police.
