GHMC penalises four stores with Rs 5 lakh fine

Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) imposed hefty fines against retail stores Bajaj Electronics, Reliance Digital and two others in the city for illegal advertisements. Officials of the GHMC has slapped fines on five establishments with penalties totalling up to Rs.5 lakh for posting unauthorised advertisements.

The Enforcement, Vigilance and Disaster Management (EVDM) wing of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) slapped a fine on four stores and a restaurant in the city with penalties worth rupees five lakhs for posting unauthorised advertisements. Apart from Bajaj ELectronics and Reliance Digital, VRK Silks at Ameerpet was asked to pay Rs.2 lakh Imperial Restaurant at Lakdi-ka-pul, while Reliance digital and Bajaj Electronics stores at SR Nagar were asked to pay rupees one lakh each for the erection of advertisement boards over 15 feet from the ground level. 

GHMC officials have been reiterating that any kind of advertisement/display (mounted or painted) and usage of flashy lights exceeding15 feet of the building’s frontage will invite a penalty. Also, any moving, rotating, variable messages, advertising devices, and buildings operating without a structural stability certificate is an offense under the GHMC Act, the GHMC has said.
