Grandpa gets 3-yr RI for sexual assault on his 5-yr grandson

Hyderabad: A fast track court at LB Nagar has awarded eight years’ rigorous imprisonment to a 29-year-old T. Purnachandar for sexual assault on a minor boy in October 2015.

The special POCSO court judge, in his order issued on 31 December 2019, also imposed a fine of Rs. 10,000 on the accused, T. Purnachandar, a labour resident of Hayathnagar in RR District.

Additional public prosecutor Manjula told the court that on October 13, 2015, while suspect’s wife was at home the accused called his 5-year-old grandson and took him to the outskirts of Ragannaguda village and tied his hands and legs, the heartless accused also bitten the boy.

When the boy returned home, his mother found him uneasy. When she inquired with him, the child informed her about the incident.

The boy’s parents later found the accused grandfather and filed a complaint against him at Adibatla police station and then the accused was subsequently arrested and booked under Indian Penal Code Section 377 (unnatural offences) and relevant provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
