Hindus, Muslims join hands to clean the streets of Baripada

ODISHA: Amid beating of gongs, cymbals, blowing of conch shells and ‘hari bol’ chants, Bahuda Yatra or the ‘Return car festival’ of Lord Jagannath, his brother Balabhadra and sister Subhadra, concluded in Odisha. The warm-hearted and jubilant residents of the region who had just winded up with the celebrations of the chariot festival, refused to take a break as they geared up to take part in the festival of cleanliness.

Armed with broomsticks, the people, irrespective of their religion, caste and creed, got together in Baripada city of Odisha to clean up the Bada Danda Street, the main street leading to the Lord Jagannath temple, spreading a message of love and brotherhood. By the virtue of humanity and brotherhood, we all Muslim brothers have come forward to clean the city irrespective of any cast and religion.
