Hockey India conducts first-ever online test for umpires

New Delhi: Hockey India on Friday successfully conducted the first-ever online test for umpires and technical officials.

A record of 873 candidates from across India appeared for the test, which is designed as part of a programme for professional development of the umpires and technical officials.

It received an unprecedented response and Hockey India is hopeful they will receive more participation in the future programs too. The Test revolved around practical and theoretical knowledge of the FIH Rules of Hockey 2019 and the current FIH Tournament Regulations.

“The response from candidates who enrolled for the online test was overwhelming with 873 officials from across Hockey India member units appearing for the test today. Organising this online test will certainly help raise the bar of umpiring and technical officiating in India,” Hockey India President Mohd. Mushtaque Ahmad said.

“It was very encouraging to see many women take up the test too and we thank all the participants who took part in this test. We would like to have more participation of this kind in our future programs too,” Ahmad added.
