Hyderabad: A man who claimed to be a ‘Baba’, an exorcist who could rid people of evil spirits that possessed them, was arrested on Saturday night.
The ‘godman’ has thousands of subscribers on his YouTube channel that contain videos that show him exorcising people of the evil spirits.
The accused, identified as Sayyed Tipu Sultan alias Tipu Baba, 26, a resident of Kinara Galli used to shoot videos of himself ‘healing’ people afflicted with ‘mental’ ailments.
A complaint was filed by Jawed Khan, 42, a videographer, with the Hussaini Alam police station stating that Tipu Baba had accused him of performing black magic on his employee Mohammad Irfan, making him fall ill.
The Baba convinced Irfan that Jawed has done black magic on him which made him fall sick. He then offered him treatment and claimed later that he has been healed. He uploaded a video showing him performing some rituals on YouTube.
“This is a big scam. The man is cheating public with his fake tricks,” said Jawed Khan. Based on the complaint, the police booked cheating cases against the Baba and arrested him on Saturday night.
