Iranian Corner proposed at MANUU

Hyderabad: Mr. Masoud Ahmadvand, Deputy Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance, Islamic Republic of Iran today visited Maulana Azad National Urdu University. During his visit he offered to establish an “Iranian Corner” at MANUU’s Central Library. Iranian Books, Journals and Research support materials will be the part of this Corner.

Mr. Ahmadvand described India as a bouquet of different religions. People here have spiritual values which is a good sign of Unity in the Country, he said. The desire to visit Persian Department at MANUU brought him here. He also gifted two Persian books to the University.

Dr. M. A. Sikandar, Registrar, MANUU welcomed the delegation and said that Persian language played a very important role in promoting Sufism and Spirituality in India. The Iranian Community staying in Hyderabad is the proof of strong & time tested Indo-Iranian relations. He also proposed the exchange of students and teachers between MANUU and Iranian Universities.

Mr. Mohsen Ashouri, Director, Culture House, Islamic Republic of Iran, Mumbai termed Persian language as a bridge between India & Iran. Iranian delegates Dr. Muhammad Hadi Falah & Syed Tamjid Haider, PRO, Consulate of Iran, Hyderabad and Prof. Saneem Fatima, Joint Dean, Academics, Department Faculty – Prof. Shahid Naukhez Azmi, Head, Prof. Aziz Bano, Dr. Syeda Asmath Jahan, Dr. Qaiser Ahmad, Mr. Abdul Rasheed Shaik, Assistant Registrar and others were also present.

The Iranian delegation also visited Instructional Media Centre, Syed Hamid Central Library and Persian Department.
