JNU Violence: Uneasy calm returns

New Delhi: Fresh violence erupted in Jawaharlal Nehru University on Sunday evening after a ‘masked’ mob attacked students, many of whom protested the institution’s hike earlier last month.

Goons entered the hostels, vandalized properties and brutally attacked students. Girl students allegedly locked themselves in the varsity’s lab fearing the mob carrying Acid bottles. Students, teachers were rushed to hospitals. 28 victims have been so far reported severely injured including JNUSU President Aishe Ghosh.

Lights inside and outside the campus were turned off. Finally the unrest was calmed and the gates were opened.
