Karnataka: 1 woman dead, 9 hospitalized after consuming unsafe ‘Prasad’

Bengaluru: A woman is reported dead while nine others including 2 children we’re hospitalized after consuming the alleged ‘Prasadam’ that is served outside a temple in Chikkaballapura district today.

The police have so far three women in connection with the matter, TOI reported.

The deceased is identified as Kavita (22) who was reported dead while nine others, including four of her family, were admitted to a hospital Friday after eating the offering.

“A probe has been ordered after a woman died due to consumption of temple offering in Chikkaballapura district,” a statement from Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy’s office said here.

According to reports, two unidentified women were in Chintamani town at the Gangamma Devi who distributed the Kesari Bhat(halwa) at the temple’s grand celebration held on Friday night.

people started complaining after consuming the offering said the police. The victims in pain were soon rushed to a private hospital in the town.

“The temple management is not involved as nobody had prepared any ‘prasad’ there. Two women had brought some ‘prasad’ and were distributing it,” police said.

The police are on the manhunt for the women who distributed the offering.
