UP: Lost in fields for 4 days, toddler survives hunger, rains, wounds

BHAGPHAT: Misplaced for four days, a brave-year-old girl survives starvation, rains and head wound in Uttar Pradesh’s Bagphat district.

According to The Indian Express reports, the toddler was found lying in an injured state in the field near the physique of a lady, who is considered to be her mother.

As per the police, each had been attacked with a pointy object, whereas the woman’s body decomposed, the infant miraculously survived hunger, thirst and 48 hours of rain. Devotees at a shrine nearby field noticed her when she came out crawling.

The girl was taken to the Baghpat’s Astha Multi-Speciality Hospital where Rekha Nagar, a constable within the Baraut Police Station, is given in charge of her well being and safety.

At a hospital, the toddler was fondly calls as Gudiya by the staff. The mother and child are still to be identified.

Rekha told Indian Express “I come in the morning at around 10 am and leave in the evening by 9 pm. Gudiya is a brave and loving child. She has survived a lot and all of us are hoping she gets better. Her situation has improved since the first day she was brought in.”

As per the doctors, Gudiya had suffered a wound to the left part of her forehead most likely a sharp object. Dr. Ajay Garg said “We performed a CT scan and found that there was damage to the bone structure of the head as well. It is the kind of injury one sustains if their head had been banged against a hard structure. Due to infections in the head wound, we could not stitch it. But we are hopeful that she will recover.”

Doctors also found that body suffered infections caused by worms. The nurses say the toddler was unconscious for several hours when she was admitted and she consumed a complete bottle of milk and water after waking up.

The policewoman said that she is “responsive and friendly”. “She is responsive and friendly and I will take care of her. Some people have come for adoption and the Child Welfare Commission has also been contacted,” stated Rekha.
