Thane: In yet another shameful incident, a 20-year-old woman was raped in Maharashtra’s Thane District.
According to reports, the accused is a 22-year-old cook was arrested for raping and posting her objectionable pictures on social media to defame her, News18 reports.
Gurucharan Pritam Saha is a native of Tehri Garhwal district in Uttarakhand, employed as a cook at a hotel in Thane city.
The accused had taken admission into a centre providing English speaking classes where the victim had also enrolled.
The accused lured the victim on pretext of marrying her and took her to a lodge where he not allegedly raped her but also clicked some objectionable pictures said the Naupada police station’s senior inspector Anil Mangle.
He later posted those pictures on Instagram accounts which were followed by the victim’s brother and friends.
When the victim came across the pictures, she approached the police to file a complaint last week.
The accused was traced to his Uttarakhand’s hometown.
The Police have booked the accused under Indian Penal Code Sections 376 (rape) and 354 (molestation), and provisions of the Information Technology Act after his arrest on Saturday.
